Situated in the English Channel, closer to France than England the unique fusion of influences are an enticing mix on the sunshine island of Jersey. What better way to experience it all than walking around the entire 48-mile coastline. You can be walking atop rough and rugged cliffs one minute and along a seemingly endless stretch of golden sand the next. For an island that’s only five miles by nine miles Jersey really manages to pack in the sights which include the famous Mont Orgueil Castle and Seymour Tower. The sound of the sea is never far away as you walk along the soaring sea cliffs with the gulls above your head and the sea glistening beneath you.

Day 1 Start / Finish point: St Helier

The walk starts in St Helier, a busy bustling town and the capital of Jersey. Take time to explore St Helier before you start your coastal walk. Wander around the Central Market taking in the colourful array of fruit, vegetables and flowers, browse round the independent boutique shops or visit the Jersey museum to learn about the history of the island.

Jersey is easily accessible from the UK and Europe with regular flights from many airports and ferries from Weymouth, Poole and Portsmouth.

Facing the sea on the Havre des Pas seafront, the Ommaroo Hotel provides individually decorated rooms and beautiful views of the sea and rocky reef. The relaxing sun room provides panoramic views of the sea and the sprawling, rocky reef of Havre des Pas. A full English breakfast is served in the stylish and modern dining room. In the evening, guests can choose from a 3 course table d'hôte dinner menu.

The Royal Yacht offers stylish rooms, 2 restaurants and a brasserie cafe. On-site Spa Sirene includes a pool, steam room and beauty treatments. Rooms have a modern design, each featuring an LCD TV with pay movies, a safe and tea/coffee facilities. Some rooms have a balcony or terrace, whilst all rooms have a luxury private bathroom. A range of shops, restaurants and galleries are in the immediate area and their Sirocco Restaurant serves a contemporary menu, while Café Zephyr offers outside dining.

Westhill Country House Hotel | Hotel

Set in five acres of beautifully landscaped gardens on the outskirts of Saint Helier, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town to be nice and peaceful. All the rooms are comfortable and pleasantly furnished with en-suite bathrooms. There are 2 outdoor pools and a hot tub plus a quiet reading lounge to relax in.

Day 2 St Helier to La Pulente/bus to St Brelades 11 miles / 18 km

Leaving lively St Helier behind you the first part of the coastal path is an easy walk along the seafront taking in St Aubins Bay. At low tide, you can walk out to Elizabeth Castle which has defended Jersey for over 400 years. St Aubins is a lovely little seaside village with colourful houses and pretty harbourside cafes. It makes a great place to stop and refresh.

As you walk round the headland in the southwest corner of Jersey, pause for a minute to take in ‘La Corbiere’, an iconic lighthouse which has saved many a ship from becoming wrecked on the rocky shore. As there is no accommodation in La Pulente itself, you take a bus back to nearby St Brelades where you will stay overnight before returning to La Pulente the following morning to continue your walk.

Golden Sands | Hotel

This hotel is located right on the beach in the centre of St Brelade's Bay, the 4-star Golden Sands hotel offers excellent views of one of Jersey's finest beaches. All rooms have satellite TV and tea/coffee facilities. Some rooms have balconies, and many have stunning sea views. Sands Café Bar offers snacks and light meals and their Golden Sands Restaurant serves a fine menu including local seafood.

St Brelades Bay Hotel | Hotel

First founded in the 19th century, St Brelade's Bay Hotel has a truly special location, set in 5 acres of stunning gardens and overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches in the Channel Islands. The entire hotel was lovingly and lavishly refurbished in early 2011 to the highest standard. Complimentary high speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Old Court House Inn | Bed and breakfast

Located in the heart of St Aubin’s overlooking the pretty harbour, the Old Court is all about timeless old-world charm combined with modern features to provide a fantastic “boutique style” place to eat, drink and stay. Their restaurant is the perfect setting to enjoy their speciality seafood, it’s always fresh and whenever possible locally sourced. The Westward pub offers two bar areas, including one made from the original tender to the famous Westward ship.

Day 3 Bus to La Pulente/Walk to Greve de Lecq 9 miles / 14 km

Today's walk starts on a high with the long sandy beach of St Ouens Bay. This is the perfect opportunity to take off your socks and boots and have a paddle or watch the surfers out to sea. Visit the National Trust site of Le Noir Pre or ‘The Orchid Field’ which are a riot of colour in May and June. Once you reach the northwest corner of the island the scenery changes dramatically from gentle sandy beaches and wide-open views to rocky coves and dramatic cliffs.

Prince of Wales | Hotel

The Prince of Wales is situated on the north coast of the island and overlooks on of Jersey's most idyllic sandy bays of Grève de Lecq. Coarse golden sand, excellent facilities, including several cafes and pubs. The rooms with countryside views overlook trees on the uphill slope behind the hotel, or rural views to the west and east of the hotel, the seaview rooms open onto a balcony above the guest patio. All rooms are en-suite and have complimentary tea and coffee facilities, fridge, TV, free WIFI and room service.

Day 4 Greve de Lecq to Bouley Bay (overnight in Gorey Bay) 10 miles / 16 km

Here you meet the rough and rugged coastline of the North coast, you will certainly notice the stark contrast with the south of the island. Steep heather and bracken clad cliffs dominate and around every corner you really are greeted by a different view.

There are many viewpoints along the way including The Devils Hole. This dramatic natural feature is a collapsed cave and makes a great spot to watch the sea swells and wildlife. A real highlight of the north coast. Admire the glorious views over to Sark from the most northerly tip of the island Sorel Point.

Situated in Grouville on the south east coast of Jersey and only a few minutes’ walk from the magnificent beaches. At the end of the bay is the picturesque harbour of Gorey with its many award-winning restaurants and coffee shops, nestled beneath the Historic Mont Orgueil Castle. All bedrooms are furnished with Wi-Fi, flat screen televisions and en suite Bathrooms. The restaurant offers lovely and tasty set menu and specials from the board mostly French and English cuisine featuring local seafood and various meats.

Seascale Hotel | Hotel

The Seascale Hotel & Restaurant is located in a superb location sheltered beneath the imposing ramparts of Mont Orgueil Castle, overlooking the picturesque Gorey Harbour and the beaches of the Royal Bay of Grouville and beyond. Their restaurant is a small but friendly and has been refurbished with a modern touch to it. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner together with Sunday Lunch and Set Menus. A Snack Menu is also available. Their guest rooms are freshly decorated and have all the amenities you require for a lovely overnight stay.

The Dolphin Hotel | Hotel

Nestled beneath the medieval Mont Orgueil Castle, and overlooking the sleepy harbour at Gorey where days are spent on the alfresco terrace taking in the slower pace of life. Each room includes a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The private bath or shower rooms have a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.

Day 5 Bouley Bay to Gorey Bay 7.5 miles / 12 km

The stunning scenery continues as you leave Bouley Bay and walk around the northeast of the island. The east-facing coast is sheltered from the westerly winds and is where the rolling farmland and fields meet the sea. The headland at Fliquet Bay is Jersey’s closest point to France and on a clear day, the fishing ports of Carteret and Portbail can be seen. A picnic on St Catherine’s Bay makes a nice lunch stop before continuing onward to Gorey Bay with it’s imposing castle - Mont Orgueil, possibly Jersey’s finest.

Day 6 Gorey Bay to St Helier 7.5 miles / 12 km

You can leave a bit later this morning after a long and leisurely breakfast as the walk from Gorey Bay to St Helier is a shorter one. South of Gorey Harbour you reach the Royal Bay of Grouville with its massive tidal reaches. When the tide is out the low lying reef and rocks make the landscape lunar-like. It is well worth planning in time to explore with an experienced guide to learn about the rich maritime life beneath the sea.

Along this stretch of coast, you will see numerous Jersey Round Towers built to defend this vulnerable stretch of the coast.

Rounding the southeast corner of the island It is an easy walk back to St Helier where the walk ends.
